Trader Sam's Mixology Seminar

The Experience

Trader Sam’s Mixology Seminar is a guided, participatory cocktail education event held at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in the Disneyland Hotel. The seminar is led by one of Trader Sam’s seasoned bartenders and takes place during a reserved session before or between the bar’s regular operating hours, giving participants exclusive access to the space without the typical crowd.

What’s Included

The Mixology Seminar typically includes:

• Guided instruction from a Trader Sam’s bartender on the history and craft of classic tiki cocktails — covering the origins of the tiki movement, key ingredients like house-made syrups, fresh-squeezed juices, and aged rums, and the techniques that distinguish a well-balanced tropical drink
• Hands-on cocktail making — participants prepare their own versions of select Trader Sam’s signature drinks under the bartender’s guidance, working with the same ingredients and techniques used on the regular menu
• Tastings — each participant samples the cocktails made during the session, which may include both classic tiki preparations and current Trader Sam’s menu items
• Exclusive access to the bar’s interior in a quieter, smaller-group setting — the theatrical elements of Trader Sam’s (the fog effects, the lighting, the storied tiki artifacts) are all present

The seminar is designed for guests 21 and older. Valid photo ID is required for all participants.

Participating Restaurants

The Mixology Seminar is offered in coordination with the broader Trader Sam’s experience. Guests wishing to continue their evening can make separate reservations at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar (walk-ins also accepted based on availability) or dine at other Disneyland Hotel restaurants.

Dining Plan Information

The Disneyland Resort does not currently offer a Disney Dining Plan equivalent to Walt Disney World’s. The Trader Sam’s Mixology Seminar is a paid ticketed experience, with pricing per adult set at the time of booking. No dining plan credits apply. The drinks menu at Trader Sam’s draws on the traditions established by Donn Beach (Don the Beachcomber) and Trader Vic in the 1930s and 1940s — a style defined by layered rum preparations, fresh tropical fruit juices, house-made syrups like orgeat and falernum, and theatrical presentation. The seminar unpacks those building blocks and teaches guests to apply them.
