Why Is Disney World Suddenly Putting Churros Everywhere?
Walt Disney World just quietly rolled out one of its biggest snack drops of the year, and churros are the runaway star. On September 3, 2026, the official Disney Parks Blog published a roundup of new treats and drinks arriving across the resort this fall, and it includes 10 distinct churro creations scattered from Magic Kingdom to the water parks. Alongside them are frozen slushes, gelato milkshakes, and a long list of new specialty beverages, both spiked and family-friendly.
Here’s what happened and why it matters: this isn’t a single seasonal snack or a one-park promotion. It’s a resort-wide flavor refresh timed to the transition into fall, with items spread across all four theme parks, both water parks, multiple resort food courts, and Disney Springs. If you’re visiting between now and the holidays, the odds that a brand-new treat is waiting at your food court or favorite quick-service window just went way up. According to the post, authored by Disney Parks Blog writer Ally Ortmann, “This fall, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a whole batch of new snacks and sips.”
The churro takeover is the real story
The churro is having a moment at Walt Disney World, and the numbers make that clear. The Disney Parks Blog list includes ten separate churro-based items, and almost none of them is a plain cinnamon-sugar stick. Instead, Disney is treating the churro as a base ingredient and building desserts around it.
The lineup, per the official announcement:
| Churro creation | Location | Park / Area |
|---|---|---|
| Bavarian Cream-filled Churros with Chocolate Sauce | Anaheim Produce | Hollywood Studios |
| DOLE Whip Pineapple with Chili-Lime and Churro Sundae | Warung Outpost | Animal Kingdom |
| Cookie Butter Mini Churros | Ice Cold Hydraulics | Hollywood Studios |
| Maple Bacon Churro Fries | Avalunch | Blizzard Beach |
| Churro Strawberry Shortcake Sundae | Sunshine Seasons | EPCOT |
| Chocolate-filled Mini Churros | Market | Hollywood Studios |
| Churro Overdrive | Energy Bytes | Magic Kingdom |
| Cookies and Cream Mini Churros | Popcorn and Snacks | Hollywood Studios |
| Churro-misu Cold Brew | Isle of Java | Animal Kingdom |
| Family Churros (21 bite-size churros) | Mission Space Cart | EPCOT |
A few of these deserve a callout. The Churro-misu Cold Brew at Animal Kingdom’s Isle of Java takes Joffrey’s cold brew, adds house-made tiramisu cold foam, and garnishes it with a churro, which effectively turns a coffee into a dessert. The Maple Bacon Churro Fries at Blizzard Beach’s Avalunch pile maple bacon jam, crispy crepe wafers, and maple floss onto churros cut into fry shapes. And the Family Churros at EPCOT’s Mission Space Cart is a legitimate sharing platter: 21 bite-size churros with sprinkles plus chocolate and caramel dipping sauces.
Our read: Disney is leaning on the churro because it photographs well, travels well in a stroller, and is cheap to riff on. Give guests a familiar shape and a dozen different toppings, and you get a dozen “new” items without engineering a dozen new recipes. It’s smart menu math, and Hollywood Studios is clearly the churro epicenter, with four of the ten stops.
Frozen slushes are the other big wave
The second theme is frozen slushes, and Disney split them into non-alcoholic and spirited versions so families and adults can order the same flavor. The Disney Parks Blog lists four non-alcoholic frozen slushes and five with alcohol.
On the non-alcoholic side, the Key Lime Dream blends limeade, key lime, sweet cream, and graham cracker crumbs, and it’s landing at multiple locations, including Pinocchio Village Haus at Magic Kingdom and Regal Eagle Smokehouse Bar at EPCOT, among others. The Mango Heat Wave pairs frozen mango with chili-lime sauce, with a spirited version featuring Teremana Blanco Tequila at select locations.
The alcoholic slushes go bolder. There’s an Old Fashioned Freeze built on Woodford Reserve bourbon with a citrus-and-tea slush and Angostura bitters, a Frozen Marrakech Mango Margarita at EPCOT’s Oasis Sweets & Sips, and a Blackberry Cobbler slush made with Jack Daniel’s Blackberry Whiskey and a Biscoff cookie crumble.
If you want the widest slush selection in one walk, EPCOT and Disney Springs are your best bets, since both show up repeatedly across the flavor list.
Milkshakes, cocktails, and a Steamboat Willie shake
Beyond churros and slushes, Disney is adding gelato milkshakes and a stack of specialty drinks. The Steamboat Willie Milkshake at The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom blends cookies ‘n cream ice cream with cookies-and-cream churros, a sugar cookie, and a cherry, which is a nice nod to Mickey’s earliest incarnation. The S’mores Gelato Milkshake at Connections Eatery in EPCOT layers Belgian chocolate and French vanilla gelato with toasted marshmallow.
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge gets two versions of a gelato shake, including an Espresso Martini Gelato Milkshake with Absolut Vodka and Mozart Chocolate Liqueur. And EPCOT’s Rose & Crown Dining Room and Pub is quietly the biggest cocktail winner, picking up several new drinks, including the Dublin After Dark (Grey Goose, Mr. Black cold brew liqueur, Joffrey’s cold brew, and a Guinness Draught float) and a Rosé Spritz.
What this means for your next trip
A couple of practical implications stand out. First, the geographic spread rewards resort guests specifically: each value and moderate food court is getting its own character-shaped waffle or pancake flavor. Art of Animation’s Landscape of Flavors gets birthday cake waffles, Port Orleans and Pop Century get Mickey-shaped strawberry, and the three All-Star resorts each get a different one, caramel-banana at All-Star Sports, fruit cereal at All-Star Music, and candy bar at All-Star Movies, so you don’t even need a park ticket to try something new at breakfast.
Second, watch the fine print on availability. The Disney Parks Blog notes that most items arrive this fall, but a handful are labeled Coming 2027, including versions at Typhoon Lagoon’s Happy Landings and Leaning Palms and an outdoor vending spot at Disney Springs. Don’t plan a whole day around an item that hasn’t opened yet.
The blog post did not list prices, so we’d treat this as a “see it on the menu board when you get there” situation rather than a budgeting exercise. But with churros, slushes, and shakes hitting nearly every corner of the resort at once, the bigger takeaway is simple: Disney is betting heavily on grab-and-go indulgence for the fall season, and it’s spreading that bet across as many walk-up windows as possible.
