After 23 Years, This Downtown Disney Staple Is Closing Forever — And Something Exciting May Be Taking Its Place

If you’ve ever grabbed a smoothie before a day at Disneyland or wound down with a fruit bowl after a long day in the parks, this news is going to hit differently. Jamba — the beloved smoothie and juice shop that has called Downtown Disney District home since 2003 — is permanently closing, and a permit filed this week suggests the transformation is already underway.

According to Mickey Visit, Disneyland Resort filed a public permit with the city of Anaheim on April 9, 2026, for a “remodel of [an] existing beverage/food unit” to prepare for a “new tenant.” The permit references DTD Building H/Suite 102 — the exact address of the Jamba location tucked between Sephora and Pandora Jewelry, near World of Disney on the side closest to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

A 23-Year Run Comes to an End

To put that in perspective: Jamba (originally Jamba Juice) has been a fixture at Downtown Disney since 2003, just two years after the shopping and dining district opened in 2001. It has outlasted countless other tenants, survived a rebrand, and even received a refreshed look in 2020. For a generation of Disney fans, a Jamba stop before the gates opened wasn’t just a habit — it was part of the ritual.

Disney has not made a formal public announcement about the closure, and there’s no word yet on whether Jamba will find another home at the resort. But the “new tenant” language in the permit makes it clear: this chapter of Downtown Disney’s story is closing.

So… What’s Moving In?

Here’s where things get interesting. Disney announced back in April 2025 that Bopo Go!, a bubble tea concept, would be coming to Downtown Disney — but never specified a location. Now that a prime space is opening up right in the heart of the district, many fans and industry watchers are speculating that Bopo Go! could be the mystery tenant stepping into Jamba’s former home.

Nothing has been confirmed, and Disney is staying quiet for now. But the timing is certainly worth noting.

Downtown Disney Is in the Middle of a Major Reinvention

The Jamba closure doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Downtown Disney is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in years, with a wave of exciting new dining options on the way, including:

  • Earl of Sandwich — a two-story location
  • Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon
  • Pearl’s Roadside BBQ
  • Porto’s Bakery & Cafe

The district is clearly being reimagined with a fresh culinary identity, and Jamba — as iconic as it is to longtime visitors — may simply not fit the direction Disney is heading.

What This Means for Your Next Visit

If you’re planning a Disneyland trip and a Jamba run was on your agenda, we’d recommend confirming availability before you go. Given that a permit for renovation is already filed, the closure could come at any time without much additional warning.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to a longtime favorite. But if the rumored Bopo Go! bubble tea shop does land in that spot, Downtown Disney’s beverage scene could be getting a very exciting upgrade. We’ll be watching this one closely and will update you as soon as Disney makes anything official.
